I love this guy’s spoken word, but there is NOTHING that frustrates me more than this subject. I may sound arrogant or whatnot, but the Bible ACTUALLY says that we do follow a religion. It may not be a religion in which we are required to do works for salvation, we lose our humility, we become judgmental people, and we lose what’s really true about God. However, it is a religion that Jesus Himself lived out. 

Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

James 1:27

There are many things that this poet says that are valid and Biblical. However, to generalize religion in such fashion really undermines Christ Himself and the work that we have with His Spirit to CHANGE the definition of religion. 
We have the ability to change the fact that religion and Jesus clash.
We can make it work.

Guys, the fact that a number of us believe in Jesus as God automatically makes us followers of a religion.
